New hospital set for 2022 opening

HCA Healthcare is putting the finishing touches on the design of a hospital in Franklin that will replace the current Angel Medical Center facility. HCA acquired property for the replacement hospital at One Center Court in November 2019.

Jake Browning reporter@thefranklinpress.com Macon County is mourning the death of Reggie Holland, who died July 2 after his motorcycle was struck by a truck in Cullowhee. At about 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 1, Holland was driving a motorcycle north on NC 107 at the East LaPorte River Access.

Student athletes return to limited practice

As student athletes prepare to compete in their favorite sports this fall semester, the North Carolina High School Athletics Association is preparing for the worst.  The NCHSAA lifted its dead period and allowed schools to send their teams back to practice and workouts on Monday, June 15.
