Macon County Public Health reported 257 total cases of COVID-19 as of June 22, an increase of four from the previous day’s total. That number includes 191 active positive cases, 65 patients who have recovered, along with one death.

Two charged in shooting

Two suspects have been charged with assault after a shooting victim showed up at an Echo Valley home seeking help on Thursday, June 4. Matthew Dakota Shuler, 27, was charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury and jailed on a $200,000 bond.

Trial date set for Snow

A trial date has been set for Paul Eugene Snow, the Macon County man accused of killing his mother and sister in November 2016, District Attorney Ashley Hornsby Welch said.  Jury selection for Snow’s trial is set for the Oct. 26 term of Macon County Superior Court.
