CHARLOTTE - Linda Wilson Ligon, 81, passed away peacefully at home with her family around her.  She was a member of Carmel Presbyterian Church in Charlotte.  She moved to Franklin in 1992 when she joined Morrison Presbyterian Church.

Mildred Taylor Turpin

FRANKLIN - Mildred Taylor Turpin, 85, died on Monday, Dec. 7, 2020. A native of Rabun County, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Jesse Clayton and Jessie Marie Garland Taylor. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by two brothers, James R. Taylor and Denver C. Taylor.

Carolyn Rice Stiwinter

CULLOWHEE - Carolyn Rice Stiwinter, 75, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, Dec. 11, 2020. Born to Oconee County, South Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Grover and Doris Collins Rice.

FRANKLIN - Jessie Lee Welch Southard, 87, went home to be with the Lord with her children by her side on Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2020. Born in Macon County, she was the daughter of the late Ed and Myrtle Brendle Welch.

Billy Neal Rogers

CASHIERS - The Rev. Billy Neal Rogers, 79, passed away Thursday, Dec. 10, 2020.  Billy was born Sept. 11, 1941 in Haywood County to the late Roy Melburn Rogers and Annie Mae Cloer Rogers. He loved studying God’s word and was a pastor at Ray Town Baptist Church in Georgia.

Vaughn Robert Hastings

FRANKLIN - Vaughn Robert Hastings, 77, of the Cartoogechaye community, went on peacefully to be with the Lord on Sunday, Dec. 6, 2020 at his home. Born June 8, 1943 in Macon County, he was the son of the late Lawrence and Lura Roane Hastings. Vaughn was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.

CHATTANOOGA, TENNESSEE  – Katherine Ann Patton Dyer, 71, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 10, 2020 at Kindred Hospital in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Katherine was preceded in death by her son, Kelly William Cheek; her parents, Claude and Hallie Patton; brother, Caroll Patton; and sister, Sissy Patton.

Carroll L. (Chuck) Childers

ATLANTA - Carroll L. (Chuck) Childers, 85, passed away Monday, Nov. 30, 2020. He was a native of Franklin, a son of the late Herman and Josephine Snyder Childers. Carroll was a graduate of the Franklin High School Class of 1953 and was awarded a football scholarship for Western Carolina College.
