King steps down as Athletic Director

Will Woolever sports@thefranklinpress.com Franklin High School’s athletic director is stepping down from the top job. For the past six years, Blair King has served FHS as an assistant principal, overseeing a vast range of the school’s daily operations.

Nonprofits victims of VOCA cuts

Several Macon County nonprofits have been affected by major reductions to Victims of Crime Act funding and they’re employing different strategies to cope with it.

Dazzling Dahlias

Sonya Haggart grew up helping her grandmother in her garden and is now carrying on the family tradition of growing dahlias. “My grandmother could grow anything,” Haggart said. “She had the greenest thumb of anybody I know.

Town Council approves longevity pay for employees

The Franklin Town Council approved on July 6 an update to the town’s longevity pay policy that it hopes will help the town recruit and retain new employees. Under the previous policy, employees did not receive longevity pay until they had been employed with the town for 10 years.
