Dedication recognition

Alison Knop slammed 263 kills during her junior season, which led Franklin and ranked third in the conference.  This season, despite having 200 fewer chances, the 5-foot-10 outside hitter has nine more kills. Her kills and hitting percentages are higher, which she attributes to a few factors.

‘Great dynamic’

It’s all about redemption.  Franklin’s soccer team is focusing on that word, whether it’s playing an opponent who beat earlier this season or last year.

Franklin native wins 50K

Canyon Woodward is a vegetarian who estimates the last time he ate meat was more than a year ago.  But after being the first person to cross the finish line at The Naturalist 50K, he couldn’t help but celebrate the euphoric feeling.  “It was so good.

Someone’s winning streak had to end.  Unfortunately for the visiting Franklin Panthers, their seven-match streak was busted Tuesday at Brevard.  The Blue Devils won their 14th straight match to likely seal a Mountain Six Conference title.

Golfers win national tournament

Sitting in fifth place going into the final round, it appeared golf partners Jason Hedrick and Eric Hall might miss out on a top-three finish and a medal.  The duo from Macon County represented North Carolina at the Special Olympics North America Golf Championship, held Sept.

Panthers avoid shutout in lopsided defeat

FHS wins 6th straight

A chart hangs in the volleyball locker room at Franklin High School that features eight primary goals.  Coach Bekah Brooks placed stickers on the chart Friday morning for each goal the Panthers achieved. The first goal is to not let any balls hit the floor without someone going after it.
