Varsity hoops end season

The season is at an end for Panther hoops. After the Mountain Seven Conference Finals Feb. 20, wherein the girls upset first-ranked Pisgah for a tournament title, five days later Franklin’s varsity teams tipped off the state playoffs.

Young makes FHS history

It’s been a good season for freshman Garrett Young. After starring at fullback and linebacker for Panther football last fall, Young has perhaps been even more impressive for Panther westling this winter, becoming Franklin’s first ever freshman to advance to the state tournament.

JV hoops earn conference championships

A dominant season is at an end for Panther JV hoops. Having both beaten West Henderson in Round 1 of the Mountain  Seven Tournament, Franklin’s boys and girls teams advanced to the conference finals Feb. 20.

Wrestlers attend regional

A Panther wrestler has made program history. On Feb. 14, Franklin’s top male wrestlers traveled to Pisgah for the 3A West Individual Tournament. There Garrett Young placed among the top four in his weight class, becoming Franklin’s first-ever freshman to advance to the state tournament.

Girls stun Pisgah in M7 Final

Panther women’s hoops are Mountain Seven Tournament Champions. On the week of Feb. 17 Franklin’s four teams were hard at work, hosting the last two rounds of the conference varsity and JV tourneys.

Female wrestlers end season at Regional

The season is at an end for Panther women’s wrestling. On Feb. 8, the team traveled to North Henderson for the Women’s West Regional tournament, featuring nearly 200 wrestlers from more than 50 teams. There, Malaina Alberry and Carrie Holland battled the region’s toughest competition.

Varsity basketball tips off postseason

The postseason is underway for Panther varsity hoops. Having both finished their regular seasons at second place in the conference, on Valentine’s Day Franklin’s men’s and women’s teams tipped off the Mountain Seven Tournament.

Track impresses at 3A state meet

Another strong state meet is in the books for Panther track and field. On Feb. 15, the team traveled to Winston-Salem for the 3A State Championships, locking horns with elite opponents from across the state.

Plemmons breaks girls single-game 3-pt record

A successful regular season is in the books for Panther women’s hoops. On the week of Feb. 3 the team played the final three games on their schedule, including conference matchups with Smoky Mountain and West Henderson.

Panther cheer and dance are Traditional State Champions. On Feb. 1 the team traveled to Davie County High School for the N.C. Cheerleading Coaches’ Association state competition.
