Smoky Mountain Competition Cheer wins big

Two teams from the Smoky Mountain Competition Cheer Program competed at the U.S. Finals Cheer & Dance Competition in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, on April 5. Teams from all over the U.S. were represented at the competition. The Tiny Thunder Team (left) competed in the 6U-Level 1 Performance Recreation division. They received zero deductions on their routine and were awarded national champions. Each team member received a commemorative U.S. Finals medal and a coveted U.S. Finals white jacket. In addition, they received a champion banner and trophy that will be displayed at their cheer gym. Members include (from left) Landri Yates, Nadhira Dewantara, Tanasi Standingdeer, Paisley Griego, Laken Bodford, Carmen Molina, and Reagan Smith). 

The Blue Twisters Team (right) competed in the 10U-Level 1 Performance Recreation division. They placed third in their division and received the Bronze Champion banner.  Each team member received a commemorative U.S. Finals medal. In addition, they received a champion banner that will be displayed at their cheer gym. Members include (front row) Dahlia Shull, Nadhira Dewantara, Bristol Massingale, Elianna Kirchman, Tatelyn Bodford, Ady Sumardika, Amelia Fedor, (second row) Kylee Aydelotte, Vivian Guiney, Sully Lloyd, Emma Metcalf, Oliver Kate Lloyd, Shiloh Ross, and Alysha Trejo. 

The program is based in Sylva and cheerleaders represent Haywood, Jackson, Macon, Swain, Graham and Clay counties, along with the Qualla Boundary and Rabun County, Georgia. Tryouts/team evaluations for their upcoming 10th season will be held through May.
