FRANKLIN - Nan Kelso Preston, 82, went home to be with Jesus on Sunday, Oct. 2, 2022. Born in Providence, Rhode Island, she was the daughter of the late John Jarvie and Isabelle Wilson Milligan Porter. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Donald Preston.

SYLVA - Peggy Crawford Jones, 83, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 29, 2022. She was born in Jackson County on June 12, 1939, to the late Allen and Janie Cogdill Crawford. Peggy graduated from Mars Hill College magna cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in education.

Edward Bridge

FRANKLIN - Edward J. Bridge passed away Aug. 31, 2022. In Ed’s 87 years of life, he loved his wife Audrey for 87 years. They raised four children, had many friends and a great extended family. Ed was the last of 13 siblings. Pops loved life and a challenge.

Patricia Alewine

FRANKLIN - Patricia Anne Sox Alewine joined her husband in heaven on Sept. 29, 2022. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister. Anne was born in Lexington, South Carolina, on Sept. 14, 1939, to William Henry Sox and Annie Lou Harmon Sox.

Hattie Mae Wiggins Potts, 85, passed away Sept. 21, 2022. Hattie was born in Swain County to the late Conley and Mayme McCracken Wiggins. She was a member of Sugarfork Baptist Church. She loved her family and her church family.

Rudy Hughes

FRANKLIN - Rudy Allen Hughes, 75, died on Aug. 29, 2022, at Mission Memorial Hospital in Asheville. Rudy lived many years in Franklin and was a recent resident of Murphy. Rudy was born in Jackson, Mississippi, to the late Jesse and Cosette Hughes on Oct. 3, 1946.
