Two charged in Franklin-Mexico meth by mail case

Two Franklin men were arrested on June 15 in an ongoing investigation of an international drug operation, according to the Macon County Sheriff’s Office.

The MCSO Narcotics Unit, along with the Department of Homeland Security, N.C. SBI and Franklin Police Department, conducted a search warrant on Monday, June 15 at a Franklin residence. 

The search followed an investigation involving large quantities of methamphetamine being sent from Mexico through the mail to a residence in Franklin, according to the sheriff’s office. Approximately 1,007 grams of suspected methamphetamine with an estimated street value in excess of $70,000, along with scales and packaging material, were seized during the search.

Miguel Morales Morales and Alfredo Jimenez-Rodriguez were each charged with conspiracy to traffic methamphetamine, trafficking methamphetamine and maintaining a dwelling for controlled substances. Morales and Jimenez-Rodriguez are in custody at the Macon County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center under $500,000 secured bonds.
