Firefighters from seven departments turned out to battle a blaze at the Oaks Resort in Otto on Thursday, May 7.
At approximately 5:30 p.m. Otto Fire and Rescue responded to reports of a fire at a commercial building located at 371 Andy’s Trout Farm Road, according to Macon County Fire Marshal Jimmy Teem. Teem has ruled the fire accidental. The blaze began in a workshop.
The Red Cross is assisting 10 residents who were displaced by the fire. The property was formerly known as the Copecrest Resort Inn and Conference Center.
Otto Fire and Rescue was assisted by departments from Clarks Chapel, Franklin, West Macon, Scaly Mountain, Squad 4 from Macon County and Rabun County (Georgia) Fire Services.
