The passing of the torch signified the start of the 34th annual Macon County Senior Games at the Robert Carpenter Community Building on Monday, April 15.
The ceremony included a cyber security presentation by Macon County Sheriff Brent Holbrooks and Detective Jason Ash, an update on the Macon County Recreation Park by Director Seth Adams, an aerobics demonstration led by Mary Ann Ingram and more.
Macon County Senior Games Ambassadors who took part the presentation on April 15 were Mike and Karen Townsend, Martha and Joanne Roberts, Charlie and Millie Honeycutt, Karen Symonds, Judy Caposoto and Fred Howard.
The Senior Games offer a variety of competitions for people ages 50 and up and will continue through May 3. Local winners will advance to the North Carolina Senior Games to be held later this fall.
