Sheila Jenkins, executive director of No Wrong Door, was the recipient of the Citizen of the Year Award presented at the Franklin Chamber of Commerce annual awards banquet held Feb. 27 at the Smoky Mountain Center for the Performing Arts.
Jenkins thanked those who support No Wrong Door and said it would not be possible to provide the services they do without the staff, volunteers and the community. Following the award presentation, No Wrong Door posted, “She is an amazing and caring person who truly cares for the residents of our community. We appreciate all you do for your employees and your community. You are greatly appreciated for all your hard work.”

Youth Citizenship Award – Gracie Parker
Above and Beyond Award – Melvin “Pete” Penland
Duke Energy Citizenship and Service Award – Bill Hutson
Chamber of Commerce board president Matt Corbin presented the past president’s plaque to John Hamlin.
Also serving on the 2024 Chamber Board of Directors are Hunter Strickland (president elect), Bryson Burt (secretary), Laura Brooks, Judy Chapman, Sean Gibson, Kyle Ledford, Craig McManus, Brian Moffitt, Mia Overton, Patsy Parker, Deborah Patterson, Caleb Peters, Brooke Reale and George Young.
The event also included an auction of Eric Haggart photographs to benefit the chamber’s Community Enrichment Foundation, which provides scholarships for students.
