Macon mourns Holland

Jake Browning reporter@thefranklinpress.com Macon County is mourning the death of Reggie Holland, who died July 2 after his motorcycle was struck by a truck in Cullowhee. At about 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 1, Holland was driving a motorcycle north on NC 107 at the East LaPorte River Access.

Student athletes return to limited practice

As student athletes prepare to compete in their favorite sports this fall semester, the North Carolina High School Athletics Association is preparing for the worst.  The NCHSAA lifted its dead period and allowed schools to send their teams back to practice and workouts on Monday, June 15.

Macon County Public Health reported 257 total cases of COVID-19 as of June 22, an increase of four from the previous day’s total. That number includes 191 active positive cases, 65 patients who have recovered, along with one death.
