It’s leaf season!

Fall officially arrived on Sunday, Sept. 22. On Monday morning crews from the Town of Franklin and the LBJ Job Corps were out decorating the public spaces along Main Street, the roundabouts and the entrances to town. The town’s signature event, PumpkinFest, will be held Saturday, Oct. 19 from 9 a.

County pauses watershed, floodplain decisions

The Macon County Board of Commissioners delayed discussions and possible votes on the watershed and soil erosion ordinance changes until January 2025, adding a discussion and possible study about removing the Lake Emory Dam.

State approves FHS project funding

Arrest made in courthouse bomb threat

A Franklin man is facing charges after allegedly making a bomb threat to the Macon County courthouse on Friday. According to the Macon County Sheriff’s Office, the call to the deputy clerk came in at 9:47 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 13, of a bomb threat to the third floor of the courthouse.

Absentee ballot mail out delayed

Town looks to buy building for ABC store

Following a closed session on Sept. 3 to discuss property and personnel matters, the Franklin Town Council unanimously voted to enter a contract to purchase a building for the ABC store.
