A Franklin man is facing charges after allegedly making a bomb threat to the Macon County courthouse on Friday.
According to the Macon County Sheriff’s Office, the call to the deputy clerk came in at 9:47 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 13, of a bomb threat to the third floor of the courthouse.
“The third floor was evacuated, and an initial search of the entire courthouse was conducted by Macon County deputies and Macon County Emergency Services,” the Macon County Sheriff’s Office stated. “In addition, an NCSBI explosives detection dog was called in to conduct a secondary search and no devices were found. The threat was found not to be credible.”
Later in the day, MCSO arrested Jeremiah John Jones, 33, charging him with making a false bomb report on a public building, making a false report to the police and resisting a public officer. Jones is held in Macon County Detention Center on an $11,000 bond.

On the day of the threat, Jones received an amended intermediate probation from 2019 charges of methamphetamine possession and three felony probation violation charges.
