Signs of progress at the old Walmart site are now visible as Ingles prepares to build a new store in the Holly Springs Shopping Center. Ingles purchased the shopping center in 2016. Vannoy Construction will be the general contractor for the project. The plan for the 19.1-acre site approved in 2020 calls for a new 79,593-square-foot Ingles, 120,629 square feet of retail shops, an iMarket gas station and a car wash. The store will include a drive-thru pharmacy, fresh foods deli area, café, vineyard and Starbucks. Town Planner Justin Setser said the land development permits have been issued and new signs have been approved. The old store will be torn down after construction of the new store is complete and replaced by a 55,000-square-foot retail space.
