Accusations of sexual battery are mounting against Franklin chiropractor Erik Madsen.
Madsen was initially arrested Nov. 15 and charged with four counts of sexual battery and four counts of assault on a female.
At the time, Madsen professed his innocence but declined further comment.
Madsen was arrested again on Tuesday, Dec. 3 on the same charges after he was accused by eight more women.
The accusations come from 12 different women who said they were Madsen’s patients. The alleged incidents occurred between March 22, 2018 and Nov. 18. All charges are class A1 misdemeanors, each punishable by up to 150 days in jail.
Franklin Police Chief David Adams said the investigation is continuing and that he is working closely with a detective to develop a thorough account record of accusations. Police are also working with the alleged victims to gather evidence.
“The investigation is ongoing,” Adams said. “We’ve obtained warrants for all of the victims, and we’ll keep on looking.”
North Carolina criminal code describes sexual battery as “sexual contact with another person by force or against the will of the other person [or if the other person] is mentally disabled, mentally incapacitated or physically helpless.”

Madsen has a court appearance set for Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2020.
