Accused drug trafficker jailed on $500K bond

A Franklin woman was arrested on Feb. 29 and charged with six felony counts related to trafficking heroin and methamphetamine.

Crystal Ledbetter, 37, was driving a 2011 Honda Accord when she was stopped by deputies with the Macon County Sheriff’s Office near the intersection of Highlands Road and Ellijay Road at about 9 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 29. 

Officers searched the vehicle and found nearly 100 grams of meth and heroin, according to sheriff Robert Holland.

“She as a long criminal history with many pending charges,” Holland said. “She is well known to the law enforcement community.”

Ledbetter was charged with two felony counts of trafficking in methamphetamine, two felony counts of possession of heroin with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver, and two felony counts of maintain place for controlled substances.

Deputy Jonathan Bean, patrol officer David Blanton and patrol officer Kim Osborne made the arrest.

Ledbetter was booked into the Macon County Detention Center under a $500,000 secured bond. Her first court appearance is set for March 10 in district court.
