The Town of Franklin held the first night of its Winter Wonderland on Saturday, Nov. 29, with Mayor Jack Horton presiding over the official tree lighting ceremony and Janet and Victor Greene leading the candlelight service. Prior to the tree lighting, Generations performed at the gazebo.
The second night of Winter Wonderland will be Saturday, Dec. 6, from 5-8 p.m. with free hay rides, axe throwing, food trucks, an ugly sweater contest, and visits with Santa. Franklin High School and Macon Early College students will have children’s activities in Rankin Square beginning at 5 p.m. The Mountain View Intermediate School choir will perform at 5:30 p.m. at the gazebo.
Franklin Christmas parade
The 2025 Christmas parade rolled through downtown Franklin Sunday, Nov. 30, despite fears of rain. Organized each year by the Franklin Chamber of Commerce, the parade saw nearly 100 entrants, though Cindy Cavender, the chamber’s director of marketing and special projects, said it was difficult to guess how many of the entrants showed up after rain was forecast just before the event.
The parade included the Franklin High School band, local service organizations, businesses, churches, nonprofits, sports teams, clubs and other groups, with Santa making his appearance at the end.
Cavender extended her appreciation to the chamber board, which helped organize the event with staff, and to the Franklin Police Department, which helped manage traffic and intersections to ensure the safety of all those involved.
