One of the N.C. High School Athletic Association’s most prestigious awards is returning to Franklin. Recently, the NCHSAA announced their Commissioner’s Cup recipients for 2023, recognizing nine athletic teams and student organizations across the state for exemplary community service this school year. For the fourth straight year, the FHS Student Leadership Team was honored for a variety of projects, including “appreciation events for coaches, faculty, and staff, organizing pep rallies, assisting other schools in establishing leadership programs, advocating for all sports, clubs, and activities, conducting a food drive, creating and presenting the “Tireless Teacher Award,” and hosting FHS UNIFY Events for Soccer and Basketball.” In addition, the FHS track and field teams were recognized for their own outreach, including their work with 828 Vets giftwrapping Toys for Tots and with Friends of the Greenway beautifying the river walk.
