FRANKLIN - Yvonne Payne Cheatham, 94, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 13, 2020.
Born in Philadelphia, Mississippi, she was the daughter of the late Clois and Eunice Tolbert Payne. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Willard Cheatham; a brother, Jack Payne; and a sister, Peggy Coleman.
Yvonne worked as secretary to the school superintendent for many years in Charlotte County, Florida and was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church in Franklin.
She is survived by her son, Alton Cheatham and wife Darla; and her daughter, Carole Hill, both of Franklin; eight brothers and sisters, Mary Ethel Turner of Philadelphia, Mississippi, Laquita Edmonds of Mooresville, North Carolina, and Hoyt Payne, Uhl Payne, Jo Walters, Weegie Thomas, Glenda Gregory and Rhonda Thomas, all of Philadelphia, Mississippi; five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren;and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 17 in the chapel of Macon Funeral Home. The Revs. Greg Rogers and Mike Chastain will officiate. Burial will be in Cedarlawn Cemetery in Philadelphia, Mississippi.
The family will receive friends for an hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
