ASHEBORO - Tommie Lou Waldroop Knight passed away Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2022, at her residence.

Funeral services were held Aug. 15 at the Ridge Funeral Home Chapel in Asheboro. Rev. Phillip Biggs, Rev. Roger Hutchins, Rev. Matt Hutchins and Rev. Mike White officiated. Burial followed at Randolph Memorial Park. The family received friends Aug. 14 at Ridge Funeral Home.

Ms. Knight was born Sept. 27, 1931, in Macon County. After her mother, Ollie Etta Waldroop, passed away, Ms. Knight was raised by her grandmother, Nancy Vandora Burch. She went to Allison Watts School and later went back to school to obtain her GED. She has been a member of Cartoogechaye Baptist Church since 1940 and had worked at Arrow International/Teleflex and Walmart. She loved Jesus, sewing, crocheting and reading.

She was preceded in death by her children, James Howard Knight and Iva Gail Hutchins; grandson, Joseph Roger Hutchins; brothers, Belton Waldroop, Edward Waldroop, James Waldroop and Jesse Waldroop; and sister, Ann Anderson.

Survivors include her daughter, Debbie Stanley (Ricky) of Randleman; son, Jessie Edward Knight (Sandra) of Ramseur; sister-in-law, Dorothy “Dot” Waldroop of Franklin; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces, nephews, friends and former coworkers.
