FRANKLIN – Reverend Roger Wayne Alewine Sr., 83, passed away Thursday, Jan. 7, 2021.

Born in Red Bank South Carolina, he was the son of the late Lonnie and Ileen Goodwin Alewine. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother, Larry Alewine and sisters, Miriam Alewine, Evelyn Alewine and Lois Alewine.

Rev. Alewine, a Franklin resident since 2016, was a minister of music and senior adults at First Baptist Gulfport in Gulfport Mississippi. He served the National Guard until 1957 and enjoyed playing golf in his free time. He also served as minister of music at First Baptist Franklin from 1980-1985.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Patricia “Anne” Sox Alewine; Daughter Lindy (Jerry) Blanton of Franklin; son, Wayne (DeAnn) Alewine of Gulfport Mississippi; sister Pat Miles of Lexington South Carolina; sister Nettie Alewine of Lexington South Carolina, five grandchildren, Tyler (April) Blanton, Logan (Rebekah) Blanton, Ryland Alewine, Savannah Alewine, Skylar Alewine; and two great-grandchildren, Charlie and Camilla.

Celebration of Life will be held at First Baptist Gulfport, Mississippi at a later date.
