FRANKLIN– Robert (Bob) Joseph Smith, 82, passed into Glory on Aug.24, 2021, in Carrollton, Texas. He is survived by his wife of 56 years Virginia Fouts Smith; two children, daughter, Anna Vickers (Jon), and son, Mark Smith, as well as eight grandchildren, three sisters, their spouses, nieces and nephews and their families.
Serving God and families were his foundational motivators in life. Long-time residents of Macon County, Bob and Virginia owned Lullwater Retreat in Franklin for 25 years, hosting Christian retreats, camps and family reunions. He was a graduate of University of Florida and served in the United States Air Force as a civil engineer.
Bob was also an elder at Community Bible Church, Highlands, North Carolina, where a. memorial service will be on Saturday, Oct. 23 at 1 p.m.
Memorials are being sent to Samaritan’s Purse, one of his favorite charities.
