BRYSON CITY - Rebecca Mae Monteith Elliott left this world to be with her Savior on Tuesday, June 28, 2022, surrounded by family. Becky was greeted by her loved ones in glory: her father, Utie Birch Monteith; mother, Janie Elizabeth Robinson Monteith; sister, Beverly Lee Monteith LaRa; daughter, Lillian Jane Elliott McAbee; and great-granddaughter, Kali Brooke Carver.

She is survived by daughter, Mary Sue (Suzy) Carver; widowed son-in-law, Andrew Leval McAbee; grandson, Johnny Carver; great-grandson, Gaven Avery Carver; and brother, Walter Adam Monteith.

When Becky’s baby sister Beverly passed away from cancer at age 45, Becky, understanding what it was like to be a single mom, chose to step up for her sister who was no longer with us and be a mother and grandmother to Rebecca Dawn LaRa Stephenson (husband, Ricky Lee Stephenson), Dawn’s children, Amber Dawn Shuler (husband, Jeffery Shuler, and daughter, Layla Ann Shuler), Robert Nelson Slagle (wife, Katy Christian Slagle), and Scarlett Olivia Stephenson, and Beverly’s youngest daughter, Regina Sunshine (Sunny) LaRa Parks, and her children, Maria Leigh Kirkland (daughter, Clara Faith Pannell, and son, Wyatt James Kirkland), Maggie Elizabeth Kirkland and Macy Kate Kirkland.

Becky was born in Swain County in the Franklin Grove community and lived most of her life in Macon County. She worked several different jobs over the years including Western Sizzlin, VanRaalte, Belden and Parkdale being her last place of employment. She was an avid seamstress and loved to crochet, cook, and yard sale.

Aunt Becky will be missed.  She brought so much laughter, joy, and kindness to those who loved her.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 6 in the chapel of Crisp Funeral Home. Rev. David Watkins will officiate with burial in the Holly Springs Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 12 to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
