FRANKLIN - Raymond Michael Johns Jr., 90, passed away on Oct. 3, 2022, at his residence in the Rose Creek Community.

He was the son of the late Raymond Michael Johns Sr. and Viola Florence Johns who retired to the Clarks Chapel community. His wife, June Anita Johns proceeded him in death in 2000, after a short illness. He is survived by sons, Raymond Michael Johns II and his wife Linda of Asheville, Thomas Johns of Greenville, Tennessee, Steven Johns and his wife Julie of Black Mountain and Timothy Johns of Greenville, Tennessee; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brother, Wayne Andrew Johns and wife Marianne of Cherry Valley, New York.

Ray proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War with the 17th Infantry Regiment as a medic. He received a Purple Heart after being hit by a mortar during the battle of Pork Chop Hill in 1953. After moving to the Rose Creek Community in Franklin, in 1965 he began work for the U.S. Forest Service and later retired from government service.

During retirement Ray enjoyed life with his family, local flea markets, tinkering around the house and cooking.  He will be loved and missed dearly by his family and friends.

In accordance with his wishes, no memorial or funeral services will be held.
