FRANKLIN - Nancy Calloway Callahan, 87, passed away Sunday, Oct. 20, 2019.

Born in Macon County, she was the daughter of the late Lloyd Henderson and Edythe Welch Calloway. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Troup “Hall” Callahan Jr. 

Nancy was a retired school teacher and a member of First Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed traveling and playing bridge.

She is survived by her daughter, Melissa Hall (Danny) of Franklin; one sister, Ellen Robinson (Bob) of Charlotte; three grandchildren, Jeremy Pyatt, Christy Cabe (Jon) and Courtney Rogers (Roman); seven great-grandchildren, Sydney Balmer (Ryan) of Jacksonville, Florida, and Preston Pyatt, Hunter Jamison, Haley Pyatt, Dylan Pyatt, Cherish Rogers and Willow Rogers, all of Franklin; one great-great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Balmer; niece, Cindy Bailey of Cary; nephew, Wesley Robinson of Charlotte; and several other nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, Oct. 28 in the chapel of Macon Funeral Home. The Rev. Gene Hawkins will officiate. Entombment will follow at Garrett Hillcrest Memorial Park, Waynesville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Macon County School Lunch Program, C/O Angie Cook, 1202 Old Murphy Road, Franklin, NC 28734.
