FRANKLIN - Lyman Dale Morgan, 79, passed away on Wednesday, July 15, 2020. He was born on August 30, 1940 in Franklin to Robert and Helen (Dalton) Morgan. 

On October 20, 1962 he married Blanche Smith. Dale was a kind, generous, and patient person whose easy-going demeanor made him a joy to be around. He could strike up a conversation with anyone and always made a point to make people feel welcome. He enjoyed talking to both old friends and new acquaintances and he never met a stranger. Dale was a talented mechanic who enjoyed the challenge of working on cars and tractors. As a lover of history, he enjoyed reading, documentaries, and discussing local history and genealogy. Dale farmed his family’s land in the Cowee community until recently and will be missed by his loved ones. 

Dale is preceded in death by his father Robert Morgan and his mother Helen Dalton Morgan. He is survived by his wife Blanche Smith Morgan, a daughter Jill Morgan Bell (Ralph); a brother Robert Morgan (Kay) of Rock Hill, South Carolina; a grandson Chris Bell and a granddaughter Lauryn Bell.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital 262 Danny Thomas Pl. Memphis, TN 38105 or Hospice House Foundation of WNC  272 Maple Street Franklin, NC 28741.

A private family service will be held.
