FRANKLIN - James Edward “Ed” Mallory, 80, passed away on Monday, June 13, 2022.

Ed was born in Princeton, West Virginia, to the late James Conrad Mallory and Emma Bratton Mallory. After graduating from Princeton High School, Ed completed his undergraduate studies at Emory & Henry College in Virginia and then completed his graduate studies at the University of Tennessee where he received his master’s degree in Organic Chemistry. Ed was a devoted member of First United Methodist Church of Franklin.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Elizabeth Carole Watson Mallory; children, Steve Mallory (Rebecca Hope) of Greenville, Tennessee, and John Edward Mallory (Jenni) of Lawrenceville, Georgia; sister, Margery Jo Baldwin of Richmond, Kentucky; grandchildren, Jordon Mallory (Rachael) of Alexandria, Virginia, LilliBeth Mallory, Anna Mallory and Eva Mallory all of Lawrenceville, Georgia.

Visitation will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 6, at First United Methodist Church of Franklin, followed by a service at 12:12 p.m. Rev. David Beam, Rev. Vic Green and Rev. Margaret Freeman will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Macon County 4H, 193 Thomas Heights Road, Franklin, NC 28734; the Appalachian Animal Rescue, PO Box 81, Franklin, N.C.  28744; or Noah’s Ark Humane Society, 1239 Old Murphy Road, Franklin, NC  28734.
