FRANKLIN - Harley Judson “Jud” Gibson, 75, passed away Friday, Jan. 6, 2023, at his residence.

Born and raised in Macon County, he was the son of the late Harley Gibson and Lesa Roper Gibson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Timothy Allen Gibson; brother, Wade Gibson; and sister, Gale Thomas.

Jud loved painting, hanging and finishing sheetrock, and construction work, but above all, Jud’s first love was “his love for his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.” Jud was a member of Mount Harmony Baptist Church.

He is survived by his companion, Ronda Henry of Franklin; sons, Kenny Gibson of Franklin, Joey Gibson of Franklin and Harley Childers (Yvonne) of Albuquerque, New Mexico; daughter, Sarah Sanford of Franklin; sisters, Doris Dow of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, Dale Sisti (Joe) of Otto and Glenda Hughes (Chris) of Rabun Gap, Georgia; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one soon to be grandchild; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 11, in the chapel of Macon Funeral Home. Rev. David Lee Williams and Rev. Darian Cochran will officiate. Burial will be in the Iotla Baptist Church Cemetery. The family received friends on Tuesday, Jan. 10, at Macon Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Kenny Gibson Jr., Timothy Gibson, Bobby Dills, Matt Baker, Rodney Breton and Case Robinson.

In lieu of the flowers, memorials can be made to the American Lung Association, 55 W. Wacker Dr Suite 1150, Chicago, IL 60601.
