FRANKLIN - Gordon R. Dills Jr., a longtime Skagit County resident, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2022, at his home in Hamilton, Washington, surrounded by his loving family. Gordon was born on July 10, 1938, in Franklin, North Carolina, the son of Gordon H. Dills Sr. and Irma (Swann) Dills. He was raised and attended school in Hayesville. In 1956 he brought his knowledge of logging to Skagit County and worked for WA Vandergrift Logging.

On March 11, 1961, he was united in marriage to Barbara McNabb. Gordon and Barbara made their home and raised their family in the communities of Concrete and Hamilton. Gordon and Barbara formed their own logging company, Gordon R. Dills Logging in 1970, which became Dills Creek Logging, Inc. in 1989.

Gordon enjoyed dancing with his wife Barbara, spending time with his grandchildren, working in his garden, canning Tarheel Beans, and making wine. He also enjoyed the companionship of his dog Dixie.

Gordon is survived by his wife Barbara; children, Tom Dills (Sue), Gordon Dills (Laurie), Alice Dills Hardenburgh (James) and Vivian Summers (Jim); grandchildren, Gordon Joshua Dills, Samuel Parker, Nicholas Nova, Jacob Dills, Quentin Dills, Lucia Parker and Mitchell Nova; eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Inez Sullivan and Norma Jean Trueman; brothers Douglas, Steve and Scott; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Doris Clark, Barbara (Bobbie) Mayville and Carolyn Hein; brother, Wade; and great-grandson, Tucker Parker.

He was laid to rest at the Hamilton Cemetery. A celebration of life will be held in the spring. In lieu of flowers please donate to the charity of your choice.
