Leasburg, North Carolina - Fred Palmer Deal, 85, of Leasburg, died Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2019. 

Born in Macon County, Mr. Deal was the son of the late Jake Palmer and Aver Watts Deal. He was a 1954 graduate from Franklin High School. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Frank Deal and Floyd Deal, and two sisters, Mildred Thompson and Joann Deal.

Fred attended Lamberth Memorial Baptist Church. 

He was retired from dairy farming, having received the Young Farmers Award in Macon County. He was also was a member of the Caswell Cattleman Association. Fred served as president of the Holly Springs Development Association; was a charter member of the Leasburg Fire Department; and a member of the Ruritan Club. He was also retired from the Public Gas Service. 

He is survived by his wife, Shirley Cox Deal; four children, Tony Deal and wife Laverne, of Graham; Terry Deal and wife Mary Beth, of Liberty, Brian Lunsford and wife Gina, of Leasburg and Dana Lachapelle and husband Carl, of Haw River; one sister, Susie Wiggins and husband James, of Otto; five grandchildren, Lee Deal, Hannah Lunsford, Carson Lunsford Jeffreys, Clara Lachapelle and William Lachapelle; one niece, Laura Clark and husband, Rob; and two nephews, Jamie Wiggins and wife Tina, and Mark Deal and wife Jeannie.

A memorial celebration of life will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, 2019 at 419 Deal Road in Franklin.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Leasburg Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 14, Leasburg, NC 27291.
