JACKSONVILLE BEACH, FLORIDA – Ed Mrozek passed away at 84 on Feb. 10, 2021.

Ed was born on Sept. 28, 1936 in Chicago, Illinois. He married in 1957 and served in the Army at Fort Devins from 1959 to 1962. He left the service and began a retail career with Walgreens in Harvey, Illinois. In 1971, he moved his family south to Atlanta for a better life. Ed eventually worked at Atlanta Dental, where he retired in 2004. He stayed close to his family in Atlanta and then, the mountains on a trout stream in Otto. In his final years, he moved to Atlantic Beach, Florida to be with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Ed wed his high school sweetheart Judy and was married for 62 years. He gave unwavering devotion to his family through an exhaustive work ethic, participating in all their activities and doting on his grandchildren. He was a patriot, proud Chicagoan and enjoyed his Polish heritage and food. “Eddie” loved his Ma or “Busha,” by others, and was the idolized, eldest brother of Pat, Ray, twins Rich and Ron, and Marlene. He was a golf and fishing enthusiast. Ed loved to tease and laugh, work outside, adored his dog, Lula and cat, Felix, fed the birds, flew his flag and cleaned his truck “Buck”.

He is survived by his wife Judy; daughter Kathy (Peter) and son Joe (Tracy); granddaughters Jessica (Trevor), Nicole (William) and Carson (Nick); and great-grandchildren Grayson and Avery.

A memorial service will be held at at 9:30 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 18 at Quinn-Shalz Funeral Home in Jackonsville Beach. Burial service will follow at 11:30 a.m. in Jacksonville National Cemetery.
