FRANKLIN - Daphine Shepherd Green, 96, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2019.

Born in Macon County, she was the daughter of the late Mamie Shepherd. In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Crawford Jones; second husband, Lee Green; a daughter, Phyllis Grindstaff; brothers, Perry Shepherd and Walter Shepherd; and sisters, Eula Green, Joann McGaha, Ann Bogan, Imer Hedden and Beulah “Pennie” Hedden. 

Daphine retired from Belden and was a member of Franklin Church of God. She enjoyed ceramics with good friend Beatrice Deweese, and listening to gospel bluegrass music.

She is survived by seven children, Paul Shuler (Ernestine) of Franklin, Hazel Scott of Franklin, Lonnie Jones (Wanda) of Otto, Jerry Jones of Franklin, Sue Darnell of Rabun Gap, Georgia, L.R. Jones of Winter Haven, Florida and Rachael Guthrie (Richard) of Franklin; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at noon Friday, Nov. 22, in the chapel of Macon Funeral Home. The Revs. Ronnie Branson, Gene Hawkins and Jerry Jones will officiate. Burial will be in the Shepherd Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 21, at Macon Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Richard Guthrie, David Yonce, Bennie Reynolds, Joe McGaha, Roger Shepherd, Jim Green and Ronnie Beale.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the American Diabetes Association.
