FRANKLIN - Mrs. Carmen Green Jessup, 85, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2019. 

Mrs. Jessup was born Aug. 7, 1934 in Haywood County, to the late Clifford Wallace Green and Myrtle Wyatt Green. 

She obtained her undergraduate degree from Western Carolina University and her Master’s degree from the University of Texas. She taught a variety of subjects over the course of 35 years. She returned to her mountains of Western North Carolina upon retirement from the Louisiana public school system. She was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church Cartoogechaye.

Survivors include her four children, Margaret J. Kinard of Shreveport, Louisiana; Joseph Charles Jessup of Whittier; Thomas Gregory Jessup of Vicenza, Italy, and Elizabeth Anne Henry (John Richard) of Alexandria, Virginia; four grandchildren, Daniel Kinard, D’Arcy K. Holland, Cameron Kinard and Kaylan Jessup; and three great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Jessup was preceded in death by a grandson, Joseph Charles Jessup II.

A memorial service was held Saturday, Dec. 28, 2019 at St. John’s.
