FRANKLIN - We are sad to announce that Alfred Olsen passed away peacefully on Sept. 5, 2022, in Bradenton, Florida.

Al was born on Sept. 13, 1933, to Alfred Olsen Sr. and Hilda Taylor Olsen in Concord, Massachusetts,

Al was in the United States Army and served our country in the Korean War. After his honorable discharge from the Army, Al moved to Bradenton, Florida, where he began his banking career at First National Bank. In 1980 he retired from Westside National Bank as vice president to move to Franklin and start a career in real estate. Al obtained his North Carolina real estate license in 1980 then became a licensed broker and started Al Olsen Real Estate. Al resided in Franklin full time until the fall of 2012, when he began residing in Bradenton, Florida, for the winter months.

Al was loved and will be deeply missed. He was a thoughtful and generous person who was very passionate about and dedicated to the welfare of animals. Al was on the board of the Macon County Humane Society for over 20 years where he held many positions including president and thrift store director.

Al was predeceased by his mother, Hilda Taylor Olsen; father, Alfred Olsen Sr.; older brother, Gordon Olsen; and twin sister, Mariann Olsen.

Pursuant to Al’s request there will be a private celebration of life at a future time.
