A 9/11 remembrance ceremony was held Thursday morning at the gazebo in downtown Franklin.
The event was organized by Franklin Fire and Rescue Chief Ben Ormond, Dave Linn, Chaplain Bonnie Peggs and Franklin Police Chief Devin Holland.
Men’s Challenge of the Smokies sang the National Anthem.
Peggs talked about the attacks on Sept. 11, 2001, which resulted in the deaths of a total of 2,996 people. Holland and Macon County Fire and Rescue Commission Chair Dustin Pendergrass outlined the timeline of the attacks 24 years ago.
Chaplain Davis Hooper closed the ceremony in a benediction.
