A fourth person was arrested last week in connection with the homicide investigation that came about after a woman was reported missing on May 20.
Lenore “Lenoka” Wilson of Otto was arrested on May 24 and charged with two counts of felony kidnapping. Her bond was set at $200,000 and she is being held in the Macon County Detention Center.
The initial investigation began after a man reported his family had not seen his sister in several weeks. During the investigation, Macon County Sheriff’s Office detectives identified two possible crime scenes in Macon County. One in South Tryphosa was the last place the victim was seen alive, and human remains were discovered during a search of the second location on Mulberry Road.
Christopher Shields, 44, of Otto was arrested during a traffic stop on May 20 and initially charged with kidnapping. On May 26, the Sheriff’s Office reported Shields is now charged with three counts of first-degree kidnapping, three counts of assault by pointing a gun, two counts of possession of a firearm by convicted felon, one count of assault and battery. His bond was set at $1.2 million.
Sheriff Robert Holland said the additional kidnapping and assault charges were filed after it was determined there may be more victims in the case.
Jessica Smith, 31, of Clayton, turned herself in to authorities on May 23 and was charged with desecration of a corpse. She is now charged with felony first-degree kidnapping and assault with a deadly weapon.
Dereck McCrackin, 27, of Clayton, was arrested on May 23 and charged with desecration of a corpse. He is being held in Rabun County.
Shields and Smith were arrested in Rabun County and have been brought to the Macon County Detention Center.
The identity of the victim has not been released yet and is pending autopsy results. Holland said they believe the human remains found at a site on Mulberry Road belong to the woman reported as missing on May 20. Holland said the family of the missing woman has been cooperating with the investigation and has agreed to additional testing to try to determine the identity of the remains.
“This is still an ongoing investigation and additional charges may be filed,” Holland said Tuesday. “Our detectives are actively looking for people to interview.”
