The Macon County Board of Elections met on Friday, Nov. 18 for the canvass of the General Election. Canvass is the process of officially tallying votes for the election, to account for every ballot cast and to ensure that every valid vote cast is included in the election totals.
Board of Elections Director Melanie Thibault said during the canvass they counted 32 provisional ballots and 78 timely absentee ballots. The count did not change the outcome in any of the races and Thibault said there will not be any recounts.
The official totals from Macon County are listed below. Detailed information about each race, including the state races, and precinct information can be found on the state Board of Elections website (ncsbe.gov); click on the Elections Results button.
