With his granddaughter Sadie holding the Bible, Sen. Kevin Corbin was sworn in for his third term in the N.C. Senate during a Jan. 6, 2025, ceremony at the Macon County Courthouse.
Swearing in Corbin was Judge Kaleb Wingate and with Corbin was his wife Beth, son Matt, daughter Maggie, daughter-in-law Charissa and grandchildren Sadie, Josie and Riley.
Corbin serves the 50th district including Cherokee, Clay, Graham, Jackson, Macon, Swain, Transylvania and portions of Haywood county.
“It was important for me to first take this oath here, in our district, with the people who inspire and support me every day. Serving our region is a privilege, and I am committed to working tirelessly to ensure your voices are heard in Raleigh,” Corbin said in a Facebook post Monday night.
North Carolina allows General Assembly members to hold their own official swearing in ceremonies before the main on Wednesday, Jan. 8, in Raleigh, when all 170 members are otherwise sworn in.
Fellow Macon County Republican, Rep. Karl Gillespie will be sworn in for a third term in the N.C. House of Representatives. Gillespie represents the 120th district including Macon, Cherokee, Clay and Graham counties.
