William Adron “Bill” Sanders
FRANKLIN - William Adron “Bill” Sanders, 99, of Franklin, passed away Monday, Aug. 27, 2018.
He was born Nov. 24, 1918 in Sevierville, Tennessee to the late Mose and Cora Lee Rogers Sanders of Franklin. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mattie Hall Sanders; daughter, Billie Ruth “Judy” Sanders; brothers and sisters, Judd Sanders, Jannie Mae Smith, Vernon Sanders, Theodore Sanders, Harold Sanders and Virginia Gash.
He attended the Cherokee Indian School in Cherokee and went to third grade. He worked as a laborer most of his life and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Bill was a member of the Old Cherokee Baptist Church in Cherokee and attended Bethlehem Baptist Church, now known as New Bethel Baptist Church in Franklin.
He enjoyed being with his children, grandchildren, his cat Bootsy and dog Lucky, studying maps, attending church services and studying different cultures and customs.
Surviving are a son, George Hall (Peggy) of Franklin; daughter, Mary Boston of Franklin; grandchildren, Deborah Bryson (Dana) of Simpsonville, South Carolina, Greg Hall of Franklin, Donna Hall of Franklin, Montoya Boston of Greensboro, Shanna Sanders of Greensboro, Courtney Grooms (Carlos) of Greensboro and Blaine Clark of Franklin; great-grandchildren, Sean Hall of Franklin and Phillip Boston II of Greensboro; sister-in-law, Hattie Sanders of Brevard; brother-in-law, Louis Penland of Atlanta; and several nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 1, in the chapel of Macon Funeral Home. The Rev. James Keyth Eddings will officiate. Burial will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by VFW Post 7339 and American Legion Post 108.
The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. Saturday, prior to the service at Macon Funeral Home.
