Robert Carey Moyer, 78, of Franklin, passed away Tuesday, July 10, 2018 in his home, surrounded by his loving family.
Robert was born in Middletown, Ohio on Jan. 20, 1940. He was the son of the late Park Bush Rice and Dorothea Miller Moyer Rice. Robert was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran; member of the Junaluskee Masonic Lodge #145; a 51-year member of the Oxford Masonic Lodge #67 as well as the Morocco Shrine of Jacksonville, Florida. In the last year he accomplished his Scottish Rite. He was also an active member of All Saints Episcopal Church in Franklin.
Before retiring in 2009, Bob had a long and accomplished career working in the printing industry as a sales executive, account manager and branch manager for the Flint Ink Corp. During his many years in this business he made lifelong friends with both coworkers and his clients.
Bob loved to camp and fish. He was a graceful water skier, cutting across the wake like a pro, kicking a spray up to the sky with his shoulder seemingly inches from the water surface. He loved the rumble of an inboard boat. Some of the family’s fondest memories are of days spent playing on the water. Bob was an avid runner, completing 13 marathons, including the New York, Los Angeles, Jacksonville, Washington DC marathons, and his favorite, the Marine Corps Marathon.
He was a long-time member of the Jacksonville Striders Running Club, where he enjoyed the physical challenge and the social aspect of the running community, making friends that he cherished. In earlier years he was a member of the volunteer fire department in Oxford, Ohio, serving as captain, and he enjoyed working with the Cincinnati Bengals in the ’70s as an EMT and ambulance driver for the team. He was an avid car enthusiast and collector. He appreciated and loved tinkering with his classic cars, Harleys and antique trains.
He will always be remembered for his quick wit, spark for life and contagious laugh. His favorite cartoon was the Roadrunner. He loved and admired Wile E. Coyote for never giving up. His loyalty and dedication to his family and friends was immeasurable. With the many lives he touched he will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Judy Robinson Moyer; his daughters, Haley and her husband Brendt of Palm Beach, Florida and Heather and her husband Walter of Lake Mary, Florida; his three beloved granddaughters; Anna (20), Ella (15) and Ava (11).
