Paul Roger Smith
CLEMMONS - Paul Roger Smith of Clemmons passed away Tuesday morning, May 15, at his home after an extended illness.
A celebration of his life will be held at 2:30 p.m. at the Smith Family Reunion in Franklin at the Old Cowee School on Oct. 13, 2018.
Paul was born in Macon County on Sept. 8, 1935 to James Ervin Smith and Lillie Dehart Smith. He was a graduate of Franklin High School Class of 1955 and attended Wake Forest University. He served in the U.S. Army and Air Fforce and also served as a reservist in the National Guard. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Lexington, the Optimist Club of Winston-Salem, and retired after working with Security Life and Trust, Integon Insurance and GMAC Insurance with 39 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Ray and Frank Smith.
Surviving are his wife, Carolyn Waldroop Smith of the home; daughters, Dianne Ball (Billy) of Trinity and Lynn Fritts (Allen) of Lexington; granddaughters, Maggie and Emma Fritts; and brother, Carroll Smith (June) of Sylva.
