Mildred “Nannie” McConnell Hoglen
FRANKLIN - Mildred “Nannie” McConnell Hoglen, 89, passed away Sunday, Aug. 11, 2019.
Born in Franklin, she was the daughter of the late William Arthur McConnell and Minnie Elizabeth Sorrells McConnell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rimer Louis Hoglen; siblings, Steve, Paul, Ural, B.L., John Furman, Grace, Jessie McConnell and Bessie Seay; and grandson, Johnny Holbrook.
Mildred was a longtime member of Hickory Knoll United Methodist Church, since 1950, serving as past superintendent, Sunday school teacher, chairman of the finance committee and the pastor-parish relations committee, administrative board chair, chair of cemetery board, and she sang in the choir. She loved spending time with the grandkids and great-grandkids.
She is survived by two daughters, Shirley Key (Bobby) of Lakemont, Georgia and Sheila Conley (Larry) of Franklin; grandchildren, Melissa Setzer (Brian) of Franklin, Jaime Espinel (Eduardo) of Alpharetta, Georgia, Kayla Allen (Matt) of Sylva, Angela Key (Kenny) of Burlington and Erica McFalls (Dustin) of Sylva; great-grandchildren, MacKenzie Worley, Mikel Worley, Dylan Setzer, Kaylee Setzer, Brantley Setzer, Mattilyn Allen, Luke Espinel, Logan Espinel, Devon McFalls, Austin McFalls and Michaela Wilburn; two special nieces, Karen Crabtree and Margaret McConnell, both of Franklin; and several other nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 15 in the chapel of Macon Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Hickory Knoll United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. Thursday at Macon Funeral Home.
