Mary Crutchfield Fisher
Mary Crutchfield Fisher, 94, died on June 6, 2016 in Franklin.
A native of Person County, Mrs. Fisher resided in Macon County since 1946. She was the widow of Dr. Ernest W. Fisher, who died Jan. 12, 1995, and the daughter of John Crutchfield and Maude Woody Crutchfield.
Mrs. Fisher attended Meredith College in Raleigh and later earned an R.N. degree from Watts Hospital School of Nursing in Durham.
During the time she lived in Franklin, Mrs. Fisher was active in her church, community and in her children’s school activities. She was a member of First Baptist, where she served as a Sunday School teacher for 40 years. In addition, she was elected a deacon of the church in 1987.
Prior to her husband’s retirement in 1981, Mrs. Fisher assisted him for many years in his medical practice.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Dr. A.J. Crutchfield, and her sister, Evelyn Crutchfield Garrison.
Survivors include two children, Donald Woody Fisher and Mary Susan Fisher; two grandchildren, Christian Fisher and Mary Fisher Davila; five great-grandchildren; one sister, Jennie Crutchfield Wagstaff; and several nieces and nephews.
A private service for family members and burial was held at Woodlawn Cemetery on June 8.
