Jim Beymer

Jim Beymer passed away peacefully on April 18, 2016 in Stuart, Florida, with his wife Wanda by his side.

Born in 1928 in Paynesville, Ohio, Jim graduated high school in Fort Pierce, Florida. He earned his mechanical engineering degree at Florida Southern; was a Florida real estate broker and served in the U.S. Army.

His father tutored him from the early age of 7 to work hard and entrust each day’s path to God’s will. As the team of Beymer Enterprises, he and his father built many quality homes both in Palm Beach, Florida and in Highlands, where Holt Knob is comprised of mostly Beymer-built homes. Among Jim’s many passions were gemming for rubies in Franklin, boating, gardening, fishing, mentoring, travelling, fundraising for church outreach, civic work (president of Rotary and of the YMCA in West Palm Beach) and land developing from the mid-1960s to the 1980s on Eleuthera in the Bahamas. He built and owned Eleuthera Building Supply as well as the freight boat that brought development to that out-island. He developed Ten Bay, donating a waterfront parcel to United Servants Abroad for construction of a mission house, and supporting them also in Pucallpa Peru, where missionary Tom Hough›s Bible Training Center brings the gospel and offers temporary lodging and cooking facilities to indigenous peoples traveling the tributaries of the Amazon.

A lifelong Episcopalian, a man of compassion whose heart showed in his face and in everything he undertook, Jim’s favorite themes were: “you can’t out-give God;” “we are to be good stewards of all of God’s gifts and every single thing is a gift from God;” “every deal you make has to be win-win, never one-sided;” “pray about everything and move forward in faith – if the path goes wrong God will halt you, so keep stepping forward trusting in Him..

A celebration of life will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, May 20 at St Agnes Episcopal Church, with Rev. Dorrie Pratt officiating. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your favorite charity or Jim’s favorite, United Servants Abroad of West Palm Beach, Florida.
