Jerry Thomas Stilwell
WAYNESVILLE – Jerry Thomas Stilwell, 79, of Waynesville, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2018 at the Asheville VA Medical Center after a long illness. He was the son of James Franklin and Martha Nell Hawkins Stillwell. Jerry graduated from Erwin High School in Asheville and then served in the U.S. Army. After the Army, Jerry worked and retired from Lowe’s and then started Jerry’s Home Improvement Company in Waynesville.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife, Susan Smith Allston Stilwell; children, Jerry Drake, Joyce Drake Passmore (Randy), Jimmy Drake (Danelle), Julie Stilwell Shelton (Kenny) and Jill Stilwell Davis (Jason); stepchildren, Donald McKay Allston IV (Adrianna) and Dr. Mary Ann Allston; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; siblings, Jim Stilwell (Corky), Richard Stillwell (Vonita), Gene Stillwell, Annette Stillwell Reagan (George), and Johnny Stillwell (Yvonne).
Jerry was a good man, is loved by many and will be sorely missed.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 12 at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain. Pastor Rick Stillwell will officiate, and the burial will immediately follow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the ASPCA at www.ASPCA.org/donate.
