Burrell Jackson Giddens
FRANKLIN - Burrell Jackson Giddens, 100, of Franklin, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 7, 2018.
Born in Plainfield, Georgia, he was the son of the late Burrell Jackson Giddens and Nellie McConnell Giddens. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marilu Watkins Giddens, and brother, Aubrey Giddens. Jack was a U.S. Navy veteran and served during World War II. Before joining the military, he worked as a butcher and later worked as an air traffic controller for the FAA. Jack enjoyed square dancing and was a “caller”. He was a member of First Baptist Church.
He is survived by three children, Cheryl Kay Schrock and husband Larry of Franklin, Paulette Hunt of Indian Harbour Beach, Florida, and Jack Giddens and wife Debbie of Richmond Hill, Georgia; sister, Hilda Pruitt of Decatur, Georgia; nine grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 10 in the chapel of Macon Funeral Home. The Rev. Jack Jarrett officiated. Burial is in Woodlawn Cemetery.
The family received friends from 10:30-11 a.m., prior to the service at the funeral home.
