FRANKLIN - Thomas Elliott “Teg” Green, 78, was found deceased on Aug. 21, 2021. He died peacefully at his mountain home of natural causes.

Teg was born in Baltimore, Maryland, to the late Thomas O. Green and Elizabeth B. Tolson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Sue. Teg was an editor by trade, living in south Philadelphia until his move to Franklin in 2001.

He led a quiet, satisfying and simple life; yet he was a man of high intellect, broad interests and experience. Teg was unmarried and had no children. His interests included genealogy, philosophy, astrology and esoteric studies.

Although he was quite self-sufficient, he was a prolific correspondent and enjoyed discourse on many and various topics. Teg lent his disciplined and dedicated service to support the work of the Sabian Assembly as a proofreader, production typist and cared deeply for the fellowship of the Assembly, especially his close friend and confidant, Sherry Carroll. She brought him to the Sabian Assembly Summer Conference in 2015, held in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.

Teg chose to support two local organizations that were important to him including the Macon County Humane Society and Habitat for Humanity Macon-Jackson. He also made significant gifts to the Cato Institute (an American libertarian think tank), The ACLU (American Civil Liberties Union) and the Sabian Publishing Society (a non-profit educational foundation dedicated to preserving the work of Dr. Marc Edmund Jones, who founded the Sabian Assembly in 1923). Dr. Jones’ archive now resides at the Harry Ransom Center at the University of Texas at Austin.

Teg’s ashes will be interred in the columbarium at Woodlawn Cemetery in Franklin. A “Dedication of a Departure” was celebrated on Aug. 22, 2021, in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Memorial donations may be made to any of the organizations above, or to an organization of your choosing.
