FRANKLIN – Alberta Green Bowes, 76, went home to be with Jesus on Saturday, Feb. 27, 2021.

Born in Macon County, she was the daughter of the late Leonard and Tiny Gibson Green. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Jo Swafford and Cathy Green, and a brother, Lenden Green.

Alberta was a lifelong member of Ridgcrest Baptist Church. Alberta was very active at the chuch; she served on the decorating committee and loved working on the food committee.

Alberta was known for always taking care of others first, she definitely had the “service before self” way of life. She helped with Relay for Life, The Banquet Table, and would help prepare the community Thanksgiving meal at First Presbyterian Church and the Masonic breakfast fundraiser whenever possible. She loved to make beautiful wedding cakes and pies for those she knew, and to help plan baby showers and bridal showers for anyone she could. She enjoyed bowling and loved spending time with family and friends.

She was a faithful employee to Beldon for 34 and a half  years and worked in the restaurant business for many years. Alberta was a real friend to many and would always make sure no one left hungry. She will be missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her son, Bobby Bowes (Natalie Whittaker) of  Mount Vernon, Georgia; her sister, Shirley Charles (Jackie “Pete”) of Cumming, Georgia; and two grandchildren, Maggie and Carter Bowes of Dublin, Georgia. Alberta also has one nephew, Brian Charles of Cumming, Georgia; and numerous cousins and close friends surviving.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 6, 2021 at Ridgecrest Baptist Church Cemetery. The Rev. Guy Duvall will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice House Foundation of WNC, PO Box 815, Franklin, NC  28744 or the Gideons International.
